Welcome to the Southern Police Institute Alumni Association's 60th Annual Training Conference.

The Embassy Suites RiverCenter in Covington, KY serves as the perfect backdrop for this year's events. Ideal for both business and leisure, this host hotel is one of the most versatile among the hotels near the Northern Kentucky Convention Center and the countless Covington, Newport and Cincinnati attractions. For our conference participants, there is an entertainment center at Newport on the Levee, featuring art galleries as well as boutique shopping. A block of rooms have been reserved for
July 17, 2011 - July 23, 2011. The special room rate will be available until June 30th or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.

We have a valuable lineup of speakers for this year. Our Welcoming and Introduction session is Introduction to Intelligence Led Policing with Dr. William F. Walsh, Ph.D.. Dr. Walsh is the former director of the Southern Police Institute and professor in the Department of Justice Administration at the University of Louisville. Dr. Walsh has a BA in Behavioral Sciences, a MA in Criminal Justice, and a PhD in Sociology. Dr. Walsh is responsible for all educational and professional development course offerings of the Southern Police Institute. A former member of the New York Police Department where he served for 21 years, he is the author of Supervision of Police Personnel: A Performance Based Approach; a co-author of Police Administration; Strategic Management in Policing: A Total Quality Management Approach; and, a co-author of Organizational Behavior and Management in Law Enforcement. Additional conference speakers are shown on the Agenda.

We are accepting registration by mail with a check, or you may register online with a credit card. If we  offer limited on-site registration and payment, we will will put a note and a schedule on the website. We strongly encourage you to register and pay online at your earliest convenience.
